Jane began playing the violin at the age of eight and, despite extended periods working overseas, has tried to stay involved in music making wherever she lives. At university in Durham she led the symphony orchestra, was a member of the chamber orchestra and formed a quartet.
In more recent years she has enjoyed leading the BHSO during rehearsals, leads the Brighton Ensemble and plays in the Bartholdy piano trio. The latter has given recitals at the Unitarian Church in Brighton. Family life and work permitting, she plays occasional concerts with other local orchestras and has been involved in leading the orchestra in an innovative project "Orchestra in a Weekend", which brings together musicians from all over the country to rehearse and perform a work at the end of a couple of intensive days! In this instance it was performing Mahler's 6th at the Corn Exchange in Brighton.
